My Background
Max’s musical journey began in his home town, Mount Airy, NC, wanting to look cool and play electric guitar. From being an A-student, to college engineering (and not caring as much about grades), and finally landing in audio engineering, Max always knew he loved music. He played in church/college ministries, strumming an electric guitar, as he pursued his B.S. in Computer Engineering at N.C. State University. The unexpected role of 'sound guy' was thrust upon him when the church he played bass for lost their skilled sound person. Embracing the challenge, Max delved into mastering the art of live audio mixing, the technical intricacies of routing, and managing band member emotions. His dedication led him to earn professional certificates in Live Sound Production and Advanced Music Production from Berklee Online, supplemented by a transformative masterclass/mentorship under a respected professor. The pivotal moment in his mixing evolution came with the realization that 'mixing as balance' is key, prioritizing methodical balancing over flashy plugin usage. Today, Max assists churches in achieving top-tier livestreams they can be proud of on a weekly basis, and only producing songs that he believes in.
